Book Review – The Handmade Home By Cherry Menlove

As a huge fan of Cherry’s blog I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book, and let me tell you now – I wasn’t disappointed.
At first glance, this is the ultimate coffee table book – it is wall to wall stunning images, hard cover and stylish to the bone. Now, here’s where things get interesting (and also the point where you might realise that you’re going to need two copies – one for the coffee table and another for the craft room/kitchen/garden shed!) this book isn’t only creative eye-candy, it is packed with projects, practical ideas, recipes, hint & tips all overflowing with a Cherry’s stylish signature DIY philosophy.

Each chapter of the book represents a section of time, taking you on a creative journey throughout the year – Valentine’s Day, Children’s Birthday, A Summer Fete, Autumn Evenings and Winter Weekends. As a girl passionate about traditions (the old ones and creating new ones) this book speak right to my heart. With friendly anecdotes and charming stories, Cherry welcomes you into her handmade home with open arms. Step-by-step guides, with clear instructions and wonderful photographs will see you right, whatever you decide to make from this book. Or I should say, whatever you decide to make first from the book.

Let’s remember you guys, Cherry is self-taught, her have-a-go attitude mixed in with an artistic eye and a love for home and family life is bursting out of ever page, photograph, project and recipe – making this book as inspirational and empowering as it is beautiful and elegant.

Am I fangirling? Most definitely, and proud of it!

If you’re a regular reader of Cherry’s Blog you’d be forgiven for thinking that some of this book you’ll have seen before – well, this isn’t the case, the ideas are fresh, inspiring and most important achievable. If you’re wondering how Cherry finds her inspiration stay tuned when she swings in by for an exciting Gust Post!

If that hasn’t got you all fired up to bake something sugary, stitch up a future heirloom or host a cosy dinner gathering for friends, then watch this space – I’ve got a few of my very favourite recipes and projects to share with you very soon!
