Creative Reading – Little Sew & Sew
Book Review – Little Sew & Sew by Christine Leech.
What better way to spend the morning than poring over a beautiful new book in the sunshine?
Christine Leech has creativity running though her veins – and luckily for us – right on to the pages of her new book, Little Sew & Sew.
From the Simple Makes series by Quadrille, this book has over 30 simple sewing and embroidery projects, with ideas for the home, for you and even for the Littles. From simple shopper bags and stylish swing tops, to charming cushions and kid’s keepsakes. Christine Leech has a BA in Illustration, so the pages are packed with clear step-by-step guides as well as delightful templates for you to stitch from.
The projects are suitable for beginners , with clear guides and lots of lovely illustrations to help you along your way. But, and this is a big but, this isn’t a book only for beginners – I mean this is a book that is great for seasoned stitchers too – it has everything you need to feed your imagination and inspire you in your own creative projects. The pages are bursting with clear, easy-to-follow templates and a whole alphabet of circus-inspired letters….which is quite possibly one of the best I’ve ever seen! (Pssstt! If you love lettering – and stitched lettering at that – then watch this space, I’ve got something very exciting to share with you later this week!)
My very favourite thing about this book is that not only does it contain contemporary project ideas for featuring the embroidery designs, the motifs are so versatile you can apply them to any of your up coming projects.
