Stitching Friends, the wait is finally over!

Tonight, at 9pm on BBC2 The Great British Sewing Bee is back! I can’t wait to meet all the new faces, check out their unique style and, most importantly, see what they are stitching!!

The previous seasons of the GBSB have been phenomenal – not only in seeing different stitchers react to a brief, add their own flair but also for seeing a wide range techniques and skills put into use.

Watching the GBSB is a fantastic way to pick up a few fancy techniques along the way, but sometimes it hard to remember all the wonderful tips, hints and hacks that are explored through out the shows.

I just love it! I’m slowly, slowly gaining confidence with sewing and although watching just kind of reminds me I’ve got a long way to go, it makes me really excited to try.

It’s great TV. I think I’d watch it even if I did sew, in the same way I watch the Bake off.

I love watching other sewers do their thing. I’m watching the programme with a couple of friends who are also keen sewers so it’s nice to share our hobby which is normally such a solitary pastime. Patrick, Claudia and (previously) May make the show even more enjoyable to watch. I’m looking forward to getting to know Esme.

Best thing about GBSB is that it makes sewing cool again! Yes, we can all make our own clothes, as lovely, crazy, colourful and otherwise in your own image as we are!

I love everything about the Great British Sewing Bee! But most of all I like getting to know the contestants and seeing them get better and better as the series goes on. It also inspires me to try new techniques and fabrics.

I’ve watched with my daughter from the first series when she was deciding her GCSE options at school. The GBSB definately inspired her to choose Textiles as she’d only had a few lessons when she had to decide and we didn’t even own a sewing machine at that point. We’ve both learnt so much from the programme and only wish that each series were longer! Thanks for the chance to win a copy of the book.

Hi Laura, thanks for the opportunity to win the new GBSB book, I love the show it’s got me back into the sewing groove a gain after a long hiatus & lovely to see what each individual makes of the different challenges. It just goes to show that with one pattern you can make an infinite amount of garments depending on experience, background and design eye.

Lovely competition. It’s the programme which encouraged me to buy a sewing machine (series 2) and the one which still encourages me to do better and improve. Although I am glad I don’t have the same time pressures.

I owe GBSB my renewed love of sewing, fabric and clothes in general. I used to sew in my late teens and early twenties then stopped once I could afford to buy RTW! Seeing the first Bees make mistakes as well as make fabulous things was just so inspiring that after almost thirty years I dug out the machine and am now sewing regularly. And I have watched every episode if every series of GBSB, love it!
