Style Sunday: Fabulous Fair Isle
One of the greatest things about the changing seasons is that the knitwear hits the High Street – and that always makes me happy! It’s also a great place to look for fresh inspiration to add to your knit list over on Ravelry
Fair Isle is a knitting style that is more than fairly represented in my Ravelry Favourites – it’s something that, for me, never goes out of style. So, you can imagine my delight when I spotted this amazing cardigan, complete with colourful stitched design from People Tree, £125 at John Lewis.
I thought that it was high time I checked over my My Knit List and see what colourwork classics I could create to capture this High Street trend.
Colourwork projects are some of my favourite makes. Yes, they are a bit of a challenge and if you’re working with lots of colours they dont fee as postable as other projects as you live in fear of getting yourself in a tangle! But, they always look so fantastic when finished that htey are more then worth the effort taken to make them.
Besides, you can always switch in different colours to the design to give your garment a bespoke finish. Because I fancy myself as something of a Fair Isle enabler, here is my fave Fair Isle yarn palette from the sumptuous collection over at Artesano
Manos Silk Blend from left to right:
Europa • Sagittarius • Bering • Arabian • Orinoco
All I want to do is cast on for a gloriously colourful cardigan! Do you have a Fair Isle project in your must knit list? Or, does the prospect of a colourwork bring you out in a cold sweat?
