Style Sunday: The Bobble Hat
There is no getting away from the fact that winter is well and truly upon us. It is cold.
Now, I don’t know if there is any actual science behind the old saying that you lose 70% of your body heat through your head, but, what I do know is that the second you put on a cosy hat, you instantly feel warmer.
I’m old school when it comes to hats. I like my hats hand knit, I like my hats in natural fibres, I like my hats to have pom poms and, most of all I like my hats to be made up in glorious vivid colours – I’m talking mustard yellow, teal, scarlet, petrol – you get the idea.
So, when I spotted this gorgeous Pull&Bear cable knit hat, with a pom pom, £9.99 Asos I just knew that I had to search out a classic design to make my own! And, where else would a knitter in need of the perfect Bobble Hat pattern turn? Yup, Ravelry of course!
I adore this brilliant Warm Winter Pom Pom Hat by Anna & Heidi Pickles – it is just gorgeous! I mean look at those cables! Check out that colour! And, wait for it -not only is this pattern a free download (yes, FREE!) there are fingerless arm warmer mitts to match! I don’t know about you, but, I’m sold!
This pattern is worked in the round on 5.5mm circular needles and finished with double pointed needles – so, once it’s knitted, you just have to weave in the ends, no seams to sew up – brilliant!
